“Maxx”, a Siberian Husky, owner, Brandon Kovach, out-charmed a capacity field of competitors to earn 1st Place in the annual John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon “Cutest Puppy Contest”

As 1st Place Winner, Maxx received a $100.00 Arrowhead Dog Training Certificate; Two days boarding & swim time at Harbor City Kennels; Collar and leash, treats, brush, and toys from Harbor City Kennels; $25.00 gift certificate to Superior Animal Hospital; 33 LB Eagle Pack Performance Dog Food from Grand Avenue Vet Clinic; One free physical exam at PetCare of Duluth; $20.00 gift certificate to Dreamland Supper Club; One free weeknight family package at the Edge Water Park; Gift basket with homemade dog treats from Matilda’s Dog Bakery and Boutique;  Gift Package from Espana Silk All Natural Products; and a $10.00 Gift Card to Petco. 

“Bryson”, an Alaskan Malamute, owners, Chad & Jane Filley, won 2nd Place.  Bryson took home One free physical exam at PetCare of Duluth; $25.00 Gift certificate to Serenity Veterinary Acupuncture and Serenity will feature Bryson on their website; $20.00 gift certificate to Dreamland Supper Club; $10.00 gift card to Petco; Treatbag of homemade goodies from Matilda’s Dog Bakery and Boutique; Treats, brush, paw wash and toys from Harbor City Kennels; and Gift Package from Espana Silk All Natural Grooming Products.

3rd Place went to ”Isis”,  an American Stafford mix, owner, McKaela Gervy.  Isis’ winnings were One day Daycare & Swim time at Harbor City Kennels; Treats, toys, brush and paw wash from Harbor City Kennels; One free physical exam at PetCare of Duluth; $10.00 gift card to Petco; Treatbag of homemade goodies from Matilda’s Dog Bakery and Boutique; and Gift Package from Espana Silk All Natural Grooming Products.

The contest was open to the public, and all donations went to benefit our hard-working Veterianrian Crew, whose work during the John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon ensures the health and safety of our canine athletes.

Thanks to all of our contest competitors, their owners, spectators and our coordinators, Lyzz Wahlberg and Meghan Mahoney and our wonderful volunteers for making this year’s “Cutest Puppy Contest” exciting and memorable.
