Charles Berger, DVM
Charlie Berger, a Cornell graduate, has been practicing veterinary medicine for forty-five years. He was awarded a National Institutes of Health grant to study the comparative pathology and disease processes in wild animals and humans.
Charlie has taught a course, ‘Of Wolves and Dogs,’ for two semesters at the ILEAD program at Dartmouth College. Over the past 30 years, he has lectured extensively at colleges, universities, and ecological and conversation centers.
Dr. Berger has extensive wilderness camping experience. He has organized and led ecological tours to Alaska, The Yukon, British Columbia, Eastern Canada, and Africa. He produced an award-winning documentary film, “Yukon Journal”, about people living in remote areas of Canada’s Yukon Territory.
He has served on the board of directors of the International Sled Dog Veterinary Medical Association. Charlie has volunteered for over 30 mid and long-distance sleddog races including many Iditarods and Yukon quests.
