Zoya DeNure is a full time musher, mother, wife and business owner. She owns and operates Crazy Dog Kennels,Racing and Canine rescue in Delta Junction and Maclaren River, Alaska. She and her family own Denali Highway Tours & Cabins on the Denali Highway.
Home to 60 Alaskan huskies, where dogs are the center of their work and day to day activities.
Zoya is originally from Black River Falls, WI. Growing up, she worked on a dairy farm until she was scouted by a modeling agent in the MN area. She quickly began her work as an International fashion runway model working for several years in the USA and over seas in such places as Shanghai, China and Milan, Italy. Zoya gave it all up once she discovered her love for dogs and a calling that took her north to Alaska in 2002.
Since then, Zoya has organized the Gin Gin 200 and Taiga 300, popular dog races in AK that ran from 2005-2012. She has formed the rescue and rehab arm of Crazy Dog Kennels and has run several mid distance races including the Iditarod. Zoya’s hobbies include running, writing, biking, traveling, fishing and time with family. Zoya loves the adventure, the dogs and endurance of this sport.
Zoya and her husband, John Schandelmeier have a 4 yr old daughter, Jona Ann Marie.
